Found this place out of sheer luck. Excellent food, excellent service. Highly recommend.

The best Mexican breakfast restaurant on this side of the border! Period. ***NOTE: This place is NO LONGER "Dolce Café"! They moved to a different location. This review is for ROSE D' AMOUR. Those that know me, know that I will NOT recommend any "Mexican" restaurant, much less a Cali-style "taco shop" in San Diego--where the most authentic Mexican food are the "mariscos" (seafood) taco trucks in Chula Vista. Having grown up in Tijuana with the best Mexican restaurants, taquerías, and mariscos Baja has to offer, there a very few places that meet authentic standards, and Rose D' Amour is one of them. I am so glad to have been introduced to this incredible little spot in the heart of old South Chula Vista! Their breakfast is as good or better than "La Espadaña" (owners of "Talavera Azul"), their crepes are reminiscent, but much better than the ones from "Café de la Flor", each dish full of flavor and love for the culture. If you recognize these names, you know what I'm talking about. I've become a regular, the kids love it, and my non-Mexican friends and co-workers rave about Rose D' Amour after experiencing it for the first time. It's so comforting to start off with a sweet Café de Olla ("mixto" if you don't like it too sweet), follow it up with huevos con chorizo or chilaquiles de mole (ask for their "salsa macha", you will thank me later), and finish it off with a "platanos flameados" (banana foster) crepe! Everyone looking for real and authentic Mexican food needs to go to Rose D' Amour. You will not be disappointed. Be prepared to wait a little, as the restaurant is small and they are starting to get A LOT of customers! Well worth it!

I'm glad I don't believe everything I read online because despite the reviews, I came anyway, and I'm super happy I did. I prefer supporting smaller cafe owners as opposed to big chain restaurants. It is a small place but we decided to sit outside because I had my dog with me. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my friend chilaquiles, and we split a cajeta with walnut/strawberry crepe. We were not disappointed at all. Thank you for your great service.

Great little Cafe. We came with the little one and they were super accommodating. All the things we tried were delicious and I wouldn't mind coming again.
